Digital Citizenship

Digital Citizenship is the idea that technology users, of all ages (!), should learn how and why to use technology responsibly. Capable, responsible technology users are good digital citizens, and they make both the technology world and the "real" world a much better place to be.

As part of our technology integration, we labour to include learning opportunities for digital citizenship topics within all of our units. It's a field that is as broad as it is important though! Some examples of these topics are:

  • Internet safety, privacy and security.
  • Relationships and communication.
  • Self image and identity.
  • Digital footprints & online reputations.
  • Cyberbullying
  • Information literacy
  • Creative credit and copyright

For parents and teachers who want to learn more or support their children's internet safety and etiquette, there are heaps of fantastic materials available from Common Sense Media for educators.
